If it was a WANT we stood still and held up our hand.  .     .     Savings Jars We could use 3 jars to help organise our money the SPEND jar  the SHARE jar the SAVE jar      We could get money around the house by doing jobs for the whole house like doing the dishes, getting in the washing, va...

Comic writing!

Image
"We have been learning about comic strips and how to write them. We found out that what the character is talking about needs to match the actions. It took us a long time because we had to colour them all in! We found it challenging to colour within the lines. We really enjoyed doing something a little bit different than when we just write stories in our books. Check them out!" - Fyfe,  Maddy, Tyson & Athena.

Day and Night!

Image
We have been learning about day and night. We found out that the Earth moving around the Sun causes day and night. When it is day time in the Southern hemisphere, it is night time in the Northern hemisphere.  In this prior knowledge activity we had to sort pictures into things that happen in the day time and things we do at night time. We found it awesome working in a group to share our thoughts and ideas.

Buddy Writing

Image
We got into groups of 2 or 3, and 1 person described to their buddy something from the picture. Then their buddy wrote down what they said. So we had to listen carefully. We listened to each other - Joel We took turns - Wyatt We described what we could see - Ariv We helped each other when they didn't know the right words - Rocky We were looking at the pictures to write down our words - Emma Miss Clothier was very proud of the way we worked together. She heard us share ideas, and help each other with spelling.

2nd Group Sasa Dance video

Tyson "We practised until we got it right." Braxton "When we started learning we looked at the video, then we just listened to the music." Arav "We tried so much." Rocky..........."That means we gave it a go." Braxton "We have had heaps of fun so far." Mason "It was very special." Braxton "It was hard when we first did it, but now we've got it." Max

Sharing our writing to celebrate our learning

Image
On Thursday our three writing classes get together and some children from each class read one of our stories. This is a great way for us to share to celebrate our learning. Braxton " I like how I can hear other people's imaginations." Kelisia "some of the stories tell us what they feel on that day." Louie "It feels like you are on stage." Kataraina "I feel very nervous but at the end I feel very proud of myself." Putauaki "I like how I listen to their story and their voices and I get more imagination as well." Rocky "I like the stories they wrote."

Yesterday we tried strawberry chocolate balls. They looked amazing, I wanted to eat it straight away. They were rock solid and very hard. They smelt like candy canes. They looked like little snow balls and they tasted like they had jelly inside. - Theo     Yesterday I ate strawberry chocolate balls and they looked like a little pink egg. They felt sticky, breakable and hard. They smelt like marshmallows and strawberries. Thank you for letting us have a strawberry chocolate ball. They tasted like a piece of gum. - Tyson R The strawberry ball looks like a strawberry play ball. It felt like hard wood and smelt like strawberry sunflowers. They tasted like bubble gum. - Marinelle
